Team Juliette Sunshine has headed North….as in my family & I are now setting up shop in Northern California for a while…..and having fun exploring new territory in the Bay area. Here are some interesting things we have seen in our travels…..
Things are much less hectic here & a lot “greener” than LA and you can actually walk here! Lately I have had a little bit of time to reflect on the whole process of developing a new business and feeling like I want to get back to where I first started, making more unique & one of a kind pieces & getting back to the hand-crafted vibe I originally started with….I love when the whole collection looks special & exciting, and after much experimentation with different looks for the company, I’m just not so sure that adding the basic designs & creating such big collections are really me or the look I wanted for Juliette Sunshine after all……once you start doing the trade shows & having sales & doing production, it’s so easy to get caught up in what other people think you should do or what you think buyers want to see….but at the end of the day, if you’re not really doing what you want & what you love & believe in, what are you really doing, anyway? I have so many ideas all the time, but there are only so many hours in each day and there is just so much to do- so why not just focus on what you love, right?

It’s a brand new year & change is in the air! New year, new beginnings…..and busy, busy, busier than ever! So much to do in such a short time. In the middle of spring ’11 production and getting ready to ship the new collection. This season is very bright, very happy, very fun! More fun, whimsical & vintage inspired designs are set to hit the stores very soon!
At the same time, we are in the final stages of Fall ’11 sampling & & getting ready for the next photo shoot. The new collection will debut in New York this month at the ENK Children’s Club. I love the new fall collection & almost wish we made adult sizes too!

...From our initial sales launch in August of 2009, to the first spring shipment in January of 2010, we are so excited to have now designed, produced & shipped two seasons of Juliette Sunshine’s “Eco-friendly & Made in USA Clothing for Girls” to over 45 amazing stores nationwide!!
The fall line has gotten a great response and we’ve already added several new stores for
Spring 2011.
For a very small start up company, It’s been a great beginning and I definitely feel like I’ve taken a crash course in business along the way…..
-I really started on a whim…..just making cute little dresses and tops from vintage garments & recycled pieces of fabric…. for my then 2 year old daughter to wear. After so many years working 50-60 hours a week designing into the latest trends for big, fast-paced fashion companies; it was a refreshing change & I really fell in love with the idea of producing special items that were made locally from earth friendly & recycled materials. I had so much fun doing it that I started to think about starting my own Eco-friendly fashion company. With a desperate desire to spend more time with my daughter & lots of help & encouragement from my husband, I just decided one day that even if I had no idea how I was going to do it, I just had to do it…..
So with that in mind……
We are very excited to enter our 3rd season: Spring 2011 at Juliette Sunshine!

Good Day Sunshine!
Sooooo…….it was another sunny day in Los Angeles and I brought my first batch of cut sample fabric & trims to be sewn for my new eco-friendly girls clothing line-(yay!)…..I’m planning on having 2 versions of the line, one that’s handmade remade vintage one-of a kind pieces and another that uses eco-friendly, organic and vintage fabrics for toddler girls.
I got to thinking about the whole idea for this project after leaving my super-corporate fashion design job that drained all my energy and took almost all my time away from my beautiful (now 2 year old) daughter Kaiya Juliette …..being a working mom is a lot harder than I thought!
Sooo…..with all this in mind, I started designing a cute but sustainable collection of girls clothing with the intention of eventually building towards creating
an ideal clothing company for kids: -A company that makes everything in the USA, pays a fair wage to its employees and contractors, treads lightly on the earth by using organic, eco-friendly, recycled and vintage fabrics; gives back to the community and ultimately becomes a flexible, child-friendly environment for parents to work in. Oh, and did I mention?….. the clothes have to be really cute too!So…wish me luck! and stay tuned for my new collection for girls- Coming soon!
